Cool drinks in the summer are essential to weather the hot days. A good summer drink will cool you down and capture the essence of summer: a little whimsy, a little relaxation. Personally, I love to drink mojitos on the deck after work. It is a light and refreshing drink with hints of lime and mint that remind me of vacation. Here’s my recipe:
-2 parts rum
-2 parts simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water heated until clear)
-1 part fresh lime juice
-1 part club soda
-A handful of mint leaves
1. Crush ice and mint leaves in a ziplock with a rolling pin. Put ice and mint into a tall glass.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients to a shaker. Shake it like your momma don’t want you to.
3. Pour over ice.
4. Enjoy!
If you want to be fancy, add a bit of sugar cane and lime slice as garnish.
